Overview

An important variety of vine imported from the Sauternes and Bordolese regions. Friuli provides the ideal climate and soil. Prefers cool, clayey soil. Azienda Agricola Mario Schiopetto grows these vines on the hillside, with varying exposure. They produce small bunches of medium-sized grapes. The limited yield is offset by the excellent quality of the wine.

Wine Advocate - Antonio Galloni - 91 points

The 2008 Sauvignon is one of the more beautiful wines in this lineup. Expressive varietal aromatics meld into a ripe, generous core of fruit, showing exceptional balance. Today the wine comes across as slightly assertive in its aromatics, but that is most likely because of its recent bottling. Sweet, honeyed notes linger on the finish of this fairly fat Sauvignon. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2012.
