Overview

The estate lies to the South-East of Montalcino, close to the banks of the river Orcia and to Mount Amiata, which is about 2.000 meters high. This is one of the best zones of Montalcino because its soil is full of minerality and because, in view of this mountain, there is a peculiar microclimate: in summer, days are very sunny and warm while at night it’s rather fresh and cold, which is very important for the flavour of our wine. The vineyards are situated at 200, 300 and 450 meters above the sea level. The wines are probably amongst the most traditional and natural in Montalcino. Poggio di Soto is an organic winery, no chemicals or pesticides ofr any kind are used.
