Overview

Only wines from varietal grapes grown on selected slopes in Graun, near Kurtatsch, which undergo a very strict selection, are represented in this Castel Turmhof Selection. 80% of the vines grow at 300-400m above sea level but the newest vines are grown at 800-900m. This requires two separate harvests to ensure ripeness of all grapes and ensures that the fruit and acidity are consistent, even in hotter vintages. This red wine acquires its characteristic softness and depth through subsequent aging in small oak barrels
